Bazaruto Archipelago National Park

The Bazaruto Archipelago is a chain of five islands off the coast of Vilankulo, in northern Inhambane, and one of the most beautiful places in Mozambique. Protected as a national park since 1971, its turquoise channels, towering sand dunes and coral reefs shelter dugongs, dolphins, humpback whales (June–October) and more than 2,000 species of fish.

Most visitors explore the park on a dhow safari or speedboat trip from Vilankulo, snorkelling at Two Mile Reef, walking the dunes of Bazaruto Island and relaxing on empty white-sand beaches. It is the highlight of any trip to the Vilankulo area.
